The Associates of the Boston Public Library is pleased to invite you to the 24th annual Literary Lights dinner – a black tie event honoring distinguished writers from the Northeast. This year’s author honorees, or “Literary Lights,” are recognized for excellence in a wide variety of literary genres. Collectively, they have won dozens of major awards for their inspiring work. The event will take place on Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, starting with a reception at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner and the program at 7:00 pm.

This year's Literary Lights are:

	Andre Dubus III Literary Lights Keynote Speaker Professor, novelist and author of Townie
	Amy Chua Law professor and author of Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother   Award Presented by: Howard Gardner
	Mary Higgins Clark Suspense and mystery writer, author of The Lost Years   Award Presented by: Thomas Cook
	Michael Korda Former editor-in-chief of Simon & Schuster and author of Hero    Award Presented by: Ron Powers
	Siddhartha Mukherjee Physician/ researcher and author of The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer   Award Presented by: Atul Gawande
	Stephen Prothero Professor of Religion and author of God Is Not One     Award Presented by: Samuel Lloyd III
	Isabel Wilkerson Journalist and author of The Warmth of Other Suns   Award Presented by: William Martin

In addition to celebrating the accomplishments of these seven writers, the evening also raises money for the David McCullough Conservation Fund and the Associates of the Boston Public Library's operations. The Associates created the McCullough Fund in 2001 to provide a consistent source of funding for the conservation and preservation of books, manuscripts, works of art and historic documents in the BPL's Special Collections.
